Uranus and Neptune
[Return to last page]

I have been learning a lot more about my scanner and PaintShop pro and I have managed to process this slide with an image of Uranus on it. I tried before but I could not figure out how to process it. Well I have partly managed it now.

Using my H-Planet I have traced the event back to the summer of 1990. It was taken through my 10 inch telescope with a magnification of somewhere around X300. I also realised that Neptune was in the same frame, so I have circled Uranus with a large circle on the right whilst the very faint image of Neptune is visible in the circle on the left. The pair of them were in the top of Sagittarius, but the stars above them are in Aquilla.

I used my old SLR camera with a slide film, probably an ASA400, but needless to say I can not be sure of this. This was one of my first attempts at photography and I think I had some beginners luck.
Just out of the frame on the left hand side on this occasion was Saturn, although the field of view was probably just to small.

Webmaster's note - Pat also supplied a false colour (negative) image and on this the two objects show much more clearly. This is shown in the lower of the two images.
