M13 - The Globular Cluster in Hercules

The globular cluster M13 in Hercules. It was imaged through the Society's 14" telescope using a Starlight Xpress CCD on 28/9/02, with a 16-second exposure.

M13 is about 23,000 light years from us, and is generally considered to be the finest globular cluster in the northern sky. At about 6th magnitude it is a faint naked-eye object under very good seeing conditions.
