Open Evening at HighTop Solar event

On Saturday 25th June members and residents of Flaundon met at the High Top observatory for a SOLAR VIEWING event.

Although the weather that week had been mixed, we were lucky to have a dry, if windy, evening with intermittent cloud cover and many clear periods. Using members telescopes and a Coronado PST Solarscope - kindly loaned for the occasion by WOLAS (West of London Astronomical Society) we managed to log five sunspots and three prominence's (the latter with the Coronado with its hydrogen-alpha (Ha) filter).

Thanks are due to Jane for an excellent buffet, Eric Ramsey and Don for the images.
